Week 2 Summary 2008

This week of the 38th edition of Royal Palms Lacrosse was remarkable for its intensity, level of play, and numbers of teams participating. A complete (B) level schedule complemented the (A) level by providing opportunity for younger players to gain valuable game time experience. The highlight of the (A) schedule were the games played between Brunswick School and Kent- Denver (A) School. K-D roared back to avenge an early loss to Brunswick by a convincing margin. Full time certified Trainers, fully officiated games played under the lights each night ,provided an environment of safety, control, and excitement for every game. Players not on the field for some of their four hours of daily practice time, could be found on the beach enjoying the sun, or in the dining room also enjoying a healthy menu tapered to the tastes of young players. The games, practices, beach opportunities, and good dining provided a super atmosphere for team bonding, and for enjoying Lacrosse in a relaxed but energetic vacation environment.

My personal thanks to each player who made the trip to Cocoa Beach again in 2008. And to the Coaches, some of whom have attended for over 15 seasons, for guiding their teams in such exemplary ways that their teams and the sport of Lacrosse are stronger for their efforts. We are already planning for the 2009 season and hope to see you on the field at that time.

Be The Best!

Week 1 Summary

The 38th edition of the Royal Palms Tourney was favored with sunshine, gentle breezes, and just enough rain to keep the dust down on the fields. Our corps of Certified Trainers happily noted that the most frequently treated injury was Blisters caused by new cleats, sand in the socks, and not enough winter running in a dry environment. For this we are thankful. Four hours of practice and one game each day replaces three weeks of practice preparation at home to get ready for the REAL season which all are enjoying at this moment. Between practices and games , many players were found on the Beachfront or in the Dining Room relaxing and preparing for the next workout. The fully officiated games on lighted fields provided evening entertainment and activity until 10:00 PM every night.

Spring Break from school was never more enjoyable and safe than these conditions which allow for those with a common zeal for Lacrosse to “get their Game On” under the watchful supervision of their coaches.

My personal thanks to each coach who made the trip again, some for multiples of years, to enjoy Lacrosse with like minded aficionados who enjoy the warmer climate and the headstart on their primary athletic season. Life is good!

Sincerely,
